Broadway Strike - Day Seventeen: Talks adjourned at 6:30am after all night negotiations, they resume at 6:30pm this evening.

As the strike by Local One, Broadway's unionised stage hands, enters its seventeenth day, hopes of an agreement increase.
Talks between Local One and The League of American Theatres and Producers, which began yesterday afternoon, adjourned at 6:30am in the morning and are set to resume at 6:30pm this evening. The union and the League have both agreed to make no comments about the negotiations.
An NY1 reported yesterday that both sides are confident that an agreement can be reached:
"I think we are going to be able to make a deal," Herschel Waxman of the Nederlander Organization said Sunday. "I think that I'm very optimistic I think that both sides are going to be smart and make a deal.""There's lots of hard bargaining and good-faith negotiations going on," said union spokesman Bruce Cohen. "As we've said before, we're glad that the league accepted our invitation to negotiate and we are hoping that at some point before the day breaks tomorrow that there is a deal."
The hopes that an agreement would be reached by day break today did not materialise, but both sides remain optimistic an agreement will be reached in time to allow all Broadway shows to resume tomorrow, 27 Nov 2007.
At the end of negotiations this morning Bruce Cohen told the New York Times, �We are closer than we were twelve hours ago but not close enough to have a deal.�
At the talks held on 17th & 18th November it was reported that both sides came close to an agreement, but when it came to final offers they were unable to have a meeting of minds. Let us hope that when it comes to making final offers today, both sides will be willing to compromise!
