What is the typical performance schedule for a Broadway show?

Most Broadway shows perform six days a week, with eight performances total per week. Typically, Broadway shows have performances Tuesday through Sunday, with no performances on Monday. There are usually two performances — a matinee and an evening show — on Wednesday and Saturday. There is one performance on the remaining four days, usually a matinee on Sunday and evening performances on the weekdays.

However, some shows' schedules vary: Certain shows have two performances on Sunday instead of Wednesday, for example, or they take off a day of the week other than Monday. Some shows differ from this schedule, however, either adding a second performance on Sunday evening, or playing an evening performance in lieu of a matinee.
