Its last performance will be on Sat 1 Jan 2005 at 8pm, it had been booking to 15 May 2005. The musical opened on the 29 Apr 2004 at the Broadway Theatre, following previews from the 29 Mar 2004. Bombay Dreams has music by A.R. Rahman, Lyrics by Don Black , Book by Meera Syal & Thomas Meehan. It is directed by Steven Pimlott , with Choreography by Anthony Van Laast & Farah Khan The cast includes: Manu Narayan (Akash), Tamyra Gray (Priya), , Sriram Ganesan, Marvin L. Ishmael, Deep Katdare, Yolande Bavan Bombay Dreams features scenic and costume design by Mark Thompson, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound design by Mick Potter. Bombay Dreams is being produced on Broadway by Waxman Williams and TGA,in association with Denise Rich / Ralph Williams, Scott Prisand / Danny Seraphine, and Sudhir Vaishnav, The Independent Presenters Network, Alexander Fraser and Ken Denison. A R Rahman has garnered a multitude of awards and accolades for his music, and is among the highest selling musicians in the world, having sold over 200 million albums worldwide. He has composed the soundtracks for over fifty films and has collaborated with innumerable artists including Dominic Miller, David Byrne and Michael Jackson. The story of Bombay Dreams is one of universal themes - dreams and ambitions, the desire to accomplish and the importance of culture and roots. And at its heart it is a love story set against the backdrop of the colourful and magical Indian movie industry - 'Bollywood' - in Bombay, a city of stark contrasts where romantic fantasy and harsh reality live side by side. The musical follows the story of Priya, the daughter of a wealthy Bollywood film director who falls in love with poor man Akaash. The show received Luke-warm to poor notices from the popular press when it opened 29 Apr 2004: BEN BRENTLEY of the NEW YORK TIMES says �A monochromatic symphony in the key of beige.� HOWARD KISSEL of NEW YORK DAILY NEWS says "Strives for nothing more than unabashed entertainment. MICHAEL KUCHWARA of Associated Press says "Surprisingly bland musical." Bombay Dreams had its world premiere at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre on June 19, 2002
