Bill W. and Dr. Bob extends to 05 Jan 2014
The Hazelden Foundation's off-Broadway production of Bill W. and Dr. Bob, by Samuel Shem and Janet Surrey, extends its run and will now play through to 05 Jan 2014.
The play opened at the Soho Playhouse on 16 Jul 2013, following previews from 08 Jul 2013. Bill W. and Dr. Bob: In 1929, famous New York stockbroker Bill Wilson crashes with the stock market and becomes a hopeless drunk. Dr. Bob Smith, a surgeon from Ohio, has also been an alcoholic for thirty years, often going into the operating room with a hangover. Through an astonishing series of events, Bill W. and Dr. Bob meet and form a relationship, each helping to keep the other sober. This is the story of the two men who pioneered Alcoholics Anonymous, as well as the story of their wives, who founded Al Anon.
The production features set and costume design by Teresa Snider-Stein and lighting by Ann Wrightson.
Directed by Seth Gordon, the cast features Patrick Boll (Bill Wilson), Timothy Crowe (Dr. Bob Smith), Deborah Hedwall (Anne Smith), Denise Cormier (Lois Wilson), Daniel Pearce (Man) and Liz Wisan (Woman).
Bill W. and Dr. Bob premiered Off-Broadway in 2007, playing at the New World Stages Stage II from 05 Mar - 10 Jun. The production starred Patrick Husted as 'Dr. Bob Smith' and Robert Krakovski as 'Bill Wilson,' and was directed by Rick Lombardo.
