The highly anticipated Broadway premiere of new musical Be More Chill begins previews at the Lyceum Theatre tonight, ahead of an official opening on March 10, 2019.

The show asks the question "What if popularity came in a pill? Would you take it, no questions asked?" Achieving that elusive "perfect life" is now possible thanks to some mysterious new technology - but it comes at a cost that's not as easy to swallow. What could possibly go wrong? Blending the contemporary with retro sci-fi, this new musical takes on the competing voices in all of our heads. And ultimately proves, there's never been a better time in history to be yourself - especially if you're a loser...geek...or whatever.

Be More Chill features music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and a book by Joe Tracz, based on the popular novel by Ned Vizzini. The production is directed by Stephen Brackett and choreographed by Chase Brock.

The cast includes Will Roland (as Jeremy), George Salazar (as Michael), Stephanie Hsu (as Christine) Gerard Canonico (as Rich), Katlyn Carlson (as Chloe), Tiffany Mann (as Jenna), Lauren Marcus (as Brooke), Britton Smith (as Jake) Jason SweetTooth Williams (as Mr. Heere / Mr. Reyes / Scary Stockboy) and Jason Tam (as The Squip).

The creative team features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Bobby Frederick Tilley II and lighting design by Tyler Micoleau. Sound design is by Alex Basco Koch, hair & make-up design by Dave Bova, musical direction by Emily Marshall and music supervision & orchestrations by Charlie Rosen.

Ever since the musical's 2015 world premiere at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey, Be More Chill has proved a hit with both critics and audiences alike. Before arriving in New York for its sold-out off-Broadway premiere at the Pershing Square Signature Center's Irene Diamond Stage in the summer of 2018, the show had already amassed an unprecedented following, with Tumblr ranking it the Number 2 most talked-about musical on their platform, after Hamilton.
