Bare posts early closing notices

The Off-Broadway production of Bare, a new rock musical by Damon Intrabartolo and Jon Hartmere, has posted early closing notices, and will play its final performance on 3 Feb 2013.

Producer Randy Taradash said, "Bringing this production of Bare to the stage has been a labor of love for all involved. We are so proud of the show and its unique ability to spread the important messages of tolerance and equality. We look forward to bringing Bare to an even wider audience with our upcoming cast album and future productions worldwide."

Bare, opened Off-Broadway at New World Stages on 9 Dec 2012, following previews from 19 Nov 2012, and had been selling tickets through to 28 Apr 2013.

The musical opened to reviews: Regrettably, Bare sags (NY Daily News); Quickly wears out its welcome (NY Post); Stereotypes & clichés (Back Stage); Funnier, sexier and more infectiously satisfying than the original (Variety).

Bare is the story of a group of teens as they wrestle with their identities, sexuality and religion at a co-ed Catholic boarding school. As their final year of high school draws to a close, they attempt to navigate the complex road from adolescence to adulthood and must then deal with the consequences of their choices as they prepare to take the next step in their lives.

Directed by Stafford Arima, and choreographed by Stafford Arima, the cast features Taylor Trensch (Peter), Jason Hite (Jason) and Elizabeth Judd (Ivy), with Gerard Canonico (Matt), Jerold E. Solomon (Father Mike), Barrett Wilbert Weed (Nadia) and Missi Pyle (Sister Joan).

They are joined by Casey Garvin (Zack), Ariana Groover (Vanessa), Sara Kapner (Madison), Nick Laughlin (Swing), Alice Lee (Diane), Megan Lewis (Swing), Justin Gregory Lopez (Beto), Michael Tacconi (Nick) and Alex Wyse (Alan).

The show has music by Damon Intrabartolo and, book and lyrics by Jon Hartmere, Bare. Additional songs are by Hartmere and Lynne Shankel .

The creative team includes set design by Donyale Werle, costumes by Tristan Raines, lighting by Howell Binkley and sound by Keith Caggiano.

Bare had its world premiere at the Hudson Theater in Los Angeles, CA, where it began performances ion 14 Oct 2000 and ran through to 25 Feb 2001. Following the Los Angeles production, Bare began its run Off-Broadway at the American Theatre of Actors (Chernuchin Theatre) on 25 Mar 2004. It opened April 19, 2004 and played through 27 May 2004. The musical has since had more than 100 productions worldwide.

The musical is being produced Off-Broadway by Randy Taradashh, Paul Boskind and Martian Entertainment and Gregory Rae.
