Bare: musical announces complete cast

The complete cast has been announced for the musical Bare, opening Off-Broadway at New World Stages on 9 Dec 2012, following previews from 19 Nov 2012.

The company will feature Taylor Trensch (Peter), Jason Hite (Jason) and Elizabeth Judd (Ivy), with Gerard Canonico (Matt), Jerold E. Solomon (Father Mike), Barrett Wilbert Weed (Nadia) and Missi Pyle (Sister Joan).

They will be joined by Casey Garvin (Zack), Ariana Groover (Vanessa), Sara Kapner (Madison), Nick Laughlin (Swing), Alice Lee (Diane), Megan Lewis (Swing), Justin Gregory Lopez (Beto), Michael Tacconi (Nick) and Alex Wyse (Alan).

Featuring music by Damon Intrabartolo and book & lyrics by Jon Hartmere, Bare will be directed by Stafford Arima (Carrie, Altar Boyz) and choreographed by Travis Wall (So You Think You Can Dance). Additional songs are by Hartmere and Lynne Shankel (Altar Boyz, Cry-Baby, Company).

The creative team wincludes set design by Donyale Werle, costumes by Tristan Raines, lighting by Howell Binkley and sound by Keith Caggiano.

Bare is the story of a group of teens as they wrestle with their identities, sexuality and religion at a co-ed Catholic boarding school. As their final year of high school draws to a close, they attempt to navigate the complex road from adolescence to adulthood and must then deal with the consequences of their choices as they prepare to take the next step in their lives.

Bare had its world premiere at the Hudson Theater in Los Angeles, CA, where it began performances ion 14 Oct 2000 and ran through to 25 Feb 2001. Following the Los Angeles production, Bare began its run Off-Broadway at the American Theatre of Actors (Chernuchin Theatre) on 25 Mar 2004. It opened April 19, 2004 and played through 27 May 2004. The musical has since had more than 100 productions worldwide.

The musical is being produced Off-Broadway by Randy Taradashh, Paul Boskind and Martian Entertainment and Gregory Rae.


Taylor Trensch (Peter) has appeared on Broadway in 'Wicked,' and in the first national tour of 'Spring Awakening.' Off-Broadway: 'Rent' (New World Stages).

Jason Hite (Jason). Regional credits include: 'Black Suits' (Barrington Stage), 'Giant' (Dallas Theatre Center), 'Girlfriend' (Berkeley Rep), 'Spring Awakening' (San Jose Rep), 'All Shook Up' and 'A Christmas Carol' (Center Rep).

Elizabeth Judd (Ivy). Broadway: 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' (u/s Mary Jane, Ensemble). Second National Tour of 'Spring Awakening'(Wendla).

Gerard Canonico (Matt). Broadway: 'American Idiot' (Ensemble), 'Spring Awakening' (Moritz), 'Les Miserables' (Gavroche). Off-Broadway: 'The Talls' at Second Stage Uptown Theater (Russell) and 'The Prince and the Pauper' (The Pauper).

Jerold E. Solomon (Father Mike). Broadway: 'South Pacific.' National Tours: 'Big River,' 'Ragtime' and 'Annie.'

Barrett Wilbert Weed (Nadia). Broadway: Lysistrata Jones (u/s Robin, Lampito, Cleonice, Mhyrrine).

Missi Pyle (Sister Joan). has appeared on Broadway in 'Boeing Boeing' (Gretchen), and Off-Broadway in '900 Oneonta.'

Casey Garvin (Zack) recently closed the First National Tour of 'West Side Story' (Diesel, U/S Riff, Big Deal).

Ariana Groover (Vanessa) is making her NY stage debut.

Sara Kapner (Madison). On Broadway Kapner understudied the roles of 'Young Helen' and 'Alice' in 'Hollywood Arms.' Off Broadway she played the roles of 'Amy' and 'Broom' in 'Captain Louie.'

Nick Laughlin (Swing) is making his off-Broadway debut.

Alice Lee (Diane). Broadway credits include 'Spider-Man' and 'Spring Awakening.'

Megan Lewis (Swing). Broadway: Spider Man: Turn off the Dark (Swing), Grey Gardens (u/s Young 'Edie Bea'). Off Broadway: 'Forbidden Broadway Dances With the Stars!' and 'Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit.' National Tour: 'Legally Blonde,' and 'FAME.'

Justin Gregory Lopez (Beto) ismaking his Off-Broadway debut. He recently made his television debut guest starring on "Law & Order: SVU" (The Learning Curve).

Michael Tacconi (Nick) is making jis Off-Broadway debut.

Alex Wyse (Alan). Broadway: 'Lysistrata Jones' (Cinesias). Off-Bway he recently starred in 'TRIASSIC PARQ The Musical.'
