August: Osage County Michael McGuire assumes the role of of family patriarch 'Beverly Weston'.

Michael McGuire has assumed the role of family patriarch �Beverly Weston� in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's production of Pulitzer Prize finalist Tracy Letts' comic-drama August: Osage County.

McGuire assumes the role from the late Dennis Letts, the playwrights father, who died of lung cancer on 22 Feb 2008.

Michael McGuire last appeared on Broadway in 1972 playing James Daley in 'That Championship Season' (1972), for which he received Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards. Off-Broadway credits include: 'Whistle in the Dark,' 'Baal,' 'The Cannibals,' 'Pictures in the Hallway' (Lincoln Center), and the title role in 'Macbeth'' TV credits include 'Meeting of the Minds' (Special Emmy Award), 'Cheers,' 'West Wing,' 'Law & Order,' and 'The Practice.'

August: Osage County began performances at the Imperial Theatre on 30 Oct 2007 and opened on 4 Dec 2007. (The opening, which was initially scheduled for 20 Nov 2007, was delayed due to the recent strike on Broadway).

As previously announced August: Osage County is moving home in Apr 2008. The play will close at the Imperial Theatre on 20 Apr 2008 and re-open at the Music Box Theatre on 29 Apr 2008.

August: Osage County: When their patriarch vanishes, the Weston clan must return to their three-story home in rural Oklahoma to get to the heart of the matter.

The drama had its world premiere at Chicago's Steppenwolf, directed Anna D. Shapiro, where it ran from 28 Jun - 26 Aug 2007. The ensemble from that production have reprised their roles for Broadway: Ian Barford, Deanna Dunagan, Kimberly Guerrero, Francis Guinan, Michael McGuire, Mariann Mayberry, Amy Morton, Sally Murphy, Jeff Perry, Rondi Reed and Troy West. The production also includes Brian Kerwin, who joined the ensemble for the comedy's Broadway run.

Anna D. Shapiro, once again directs the production, which marks her Broadway debut. The design team features Todd Rosenthal (sets), Ana Kuzmanic (costumes), Ann Wrightson (lights), Richard Woodbury (sound) and David Singer (original music).

August: Osage County is being produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Richards, Jean Doumanian, Steve Traxler and Jerry Frankel, in association with Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
