The Fire Dept Theatre Company presents At War: American Playwrights Respond To Iraq at the Bleecker Street Theatre on 21 Jan, 28 Jan and 4 Feb 2008.

At War: American Playwrights Respond To Iraq: Excerpts from new plays by noted American playwrights, woven together to present a kaleidoscope of views on the war.

Moving, haunting, and funny, this bold new work paints vivid portraits of diverse people at war, including a soldier in a VA clinic with post-Traumatic stress disorder� an Iraqi �migr� professor� an American human rights worker on the field in war-torn Iraq� two soldiers lost in time on a nameless battlefield� a female suicide bomber� an angel� Satan� a manic vet with shrapnel lodged in his head that picks up Al Jazeera...

Featuring a rotating repertory of featured performers and celebrity hosts, including, schedule permitting, Bebe Neuwirth, Josh Hamilton, Bobby Cannavale, Derek Phillips, Daniel Sunjata, and Fire Dept company members David Strathairn, Janeane Garofalo, Gloria Reuben and Denis O'Hare.

The show also features a core ensemble featuring: Jennifer Albano, Jessica Blank, Judith Hawking, Korey Jackson, Erik Jensen, Amanda Marikar, Steven Rattazzi, Jake Robards, Audrey Rosenberg, Jonathan Schaefer, Jeremy Schwartz, Michael Warner and Jeremy Webb.

Staged as a single cohesive evening, the theatrical presentation will be followed by a discussion with the artists, and noted speakers whose personal and career experiences have given them a unique perspective on the war, at home and abroad. Guest Speakers will include Writer, Activist, and Iraq War Veteran Paul Rieckhoff, and others to be announced.

At War: American Playwrights Respond To Iraq is directed by Erica Gould and features set and lighting design by Josh Iacovelli, and sound by Jill duBoff.
