Mon 28 Jun 2004 Assassins to close 18 Jul 2004 Todd Haimes (Artistic Director, Roundabout Theatre Company) announced today that unless business improves significantly, Assassins will close Sunday, 18th Jul 2004 at Studio 54. (UPDATE: Now confirmed to close on the 18 Jul 2004) Todd Haimes said, Although Assassins has been playing to strong houses, the advance sales have slowed drastically. Sadly, contrary to popular perception, going into July, the show is not playing to capacity and tickets are available. Assassins has been a great success for Roundabout and I am delighted that the production has been so well received by the press, the theatrical community and our subscribers. I want to make sure that anyone who may have been procrastinating on seeing this remarkable musical act now. Assassins, winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, written by John Weidman and Stephen Sondheim and directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello, will have played 26 previews and 101 performances at that time. The production was scheduled to play through to 12 Sep 2004.
