The Off-Broadway run of Appropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, directed by Liesl Tommy, extends its run by one week and will now close on 13 Apr 2014.

Appropriate opened at the Signature Center's Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre on 16 Mar 2014, following previews from 25 Feb 2014, where it was originally scheduled to close on 06 Apr 2014.

The play opened to mixed reviews: Instead of being pulled in, I was left ... asking, "Is there a point to all this? (newyorktheatreguide.com); Liesl Tommy's miscalibrated production (NY Daily News); remarkable and devious play (NY Times).

The cast of Appropriate includes Maddie Corman (Rachael), Patch Darragh (Franz), Tony Award nominee Johanna Day (Toni), Alex Dreier (Ainsley), Mike Faist (Rhys), Izzy Hanson-Johnston (Cassidy), Sonya Harum (River), and Michael Laurence (Bo).

The production features Scenic and Costume Design by Clint Ramos, Lighting by Lap Chi Chu, Sound by M. L. Dogg, Projections by Aaron Rhyne and Fight Direction by Rick Sordelet and Christian Kelly-Sordelet.

Synopsis: 'The estranged members of the Lafayette clan have returned to Arkansas and their crumbling old plantation home to settle the accounts of their recently deceased patriarch. As they sort through a lifetime of hoarded mementos and junk, the discovery of a gruesome relic and a surprise visitor send the family into a spiral of confrontations, repressed histories, and regret.'
