Anything Goes moves closing date forward to 8 Jul 2012



The Roundabout's Tony Award-winning revival of Anything Goes, directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, has moved its closing date forward, and will now perform its final performance on 8 Jul 2012.

The show, which originanlly announced it would close on 5 Aug 2012, had been booking through to 9 Sep 2012.

The Roundabout's Artistic Director Todd Haimes said, "We had hoped sales would pick up in reaction to announcing the final eight weeks, but unfortunately the reaction was not significant enough. The production will play its final performance on 8 Jul 2012. I am so proud of Kathleen Marshall's magnificent production and am very grateful to the company for maintaining its quality for over 500 performances."

The original limited engagement subscription run of Anything Goes opened on 7 Apr 2012 and was scheduled to run for 19 weeks. It went on to be extended three times through to 8 Jul 2012 and recently celebrated its 500th performance on Broadway.

The musical opened to mostly excellent reviews: Zesty new revival (NY Times); Pure, old-school magic (NY Post); What can you say about perfection? (Back Stage); An enjoyable cruise to musical comedy heaven (Newsroom Jersey).

The musical's principal cast stars Stephanie J. Block (Reno Sweene), Joel Grey (Moonface Martin), Bill English (Billy Crocker), Robert Petkoff (Lord Evelyn Oakleigh), Erin Mackey (Hope Harcourt), Joyce Chittick (Erma), Walter Charles (Captain), Robert Creighton (Purser), Andrew Cao (Luke), Raymond J. Lee (John), John McMartin (Elisha Whitney) and Julie Halston (Evangeline Harcourt).

Anything Goes won three 2011 Tony Awards: Best Revival of a Musical, Best Choreography (Kathleen Marshall) and Best Actress in a Musical won by original cast member Sutton Foster for her role as 'Reno Sweeney.'

Anything Goes: When the S.S. American heads out to sea, etiquette and convention head out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love... proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, an exotic disguise and some good old-fashioned blackmail.

Anything Goes' music & lyrics are by Cole Porter, original book is by P.G. Wodehouse & Guy Bolton and Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse. The revival features a new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.

The creative team includes Bill Elliott (Additional Orchestrations), Rob Fisher (Musical Director) and David Chase (Dance Arranger). The design team includes Derek McLane (Sets), Martin Pakledinaz (Costumes), Peter Kaczorowski (Lights) and Brian Ronan (Sound).
