This morning the Recording Academy announced the nominations for The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, to be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 26, 2020. At this time, the New York Theatre Guide would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the five nominees in the category of 'Best Musical Theater Album.' These include the smash hit bio-musical Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations, the Tony Award-winning 'Best Musical' Hadestown, the enchanting score of the Tony Award-winning 'Best Play' Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the jukebox sensation Moulin Rouge! The Musical, and the Tony Award-winning 'Best Revival of a Musical' Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!

In addition, the New York Theatre would also like to congratulate Waitress songwriter Sara Bareilles for her nomination for "Saint Honesty" in the category of 'Best American Roots,' as well as Hairspray composer Marc Shaiman, who is also in the process of penning a score for the upcoming Broadway revival of Plaza Suite (starring Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker), for his nomination in the category of 'Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media' for "Mary Poppins Returns." And of course, our congratulations to the legendary Barbra Streisand for receiveing a nomination in the category of 'Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album' for "Walls."
