Search Party and Arrested Development star Alia Shawkat will lead a revival of Clare Barron’s play You Got Older off Broadway in 2026, running at the Cherry Lane Theatre from February 12 to March 29. Opening night is February 23.

Tony Award nominee Anne Kauffman (Mary Jane) directs this drama about Mae (Shawkat, in her theatre debut), a newly jobless and single woman, who moves home to care for her sick father. There, she meets a mysterious stranger who might provide the intimacy she's been craving more easily than her own family.

The NYC premiere of You Got Older, also directed by Kauffman, took place in 2014 at HERE Arts Center with Page 73 Productions. The show later went on to a 2018 production at the prestigious Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago.

“The chance to revisit this play with Anne Kauffman is a dream come true,” said Barron in a statement. “We both got older. Who knows if we're wiser! But it's a beautiful experience to see the play through a new lens with a new venture on a precious, old stage. Life and intimacy continue to confound.”

Barron won the 2015 Obie Award for Playwriting for You Got Older, but she is best known for her play Dance Nation, which was a Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist and won the Relentless Award and Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for playwriting.

The full cast for You Got Older has yet to be announced. The show will also feature scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting design by Isabella Byrd, and sound design and compositions by Daniel Kluger.
