Aimee Carrero completes the cast of Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of The Portuguese Kid, written and directed by Tony, Pulitzer Prize, and Oscar winner John Patrick Shanley, which will begin previews at New York City Center - Stage I on September 19, 2017, before an official opening on October 24 and a limited engagement through to November 26, 2017.

Ms. Carrero will take on the role of Patty and joins previously announced cast members Tony Award winner Jason Alexander (as Barry Dragonetti), Pico Alexander (as Freddie), three-time Tony nominee Sherie Rene Scott (as Atalanta) and Mary Testa (as Mrs. Dragonetti).

Synopsis: "In Providence, Rhode Island, habitually widowed Atalanta pays a visit to her second-rate lawyer Barry Dragonetti. Intending to settle her latest husband's affairs, this larger-than-life Greek tightwad quickly becomes a nightmare for her cheesy, self-aggrandizing attorney. Add Barry's impossible Croatian mother, a dash of current politics and a couple of opportunistic young lovers, and you have in hand a recipe for comic combustion."

The creative team behind The Portuguese Kid features scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, and original music and sound design by Obadiah Eaves.

Jason Alexander won a Tony Award in 1989 for 'Jerome Robbins' Broadway.' He was last seen on the Great White Way in Larry David's 'Fish in the Dark' in 2015. He is perhaps best known for his TV role as George Costanza on "Seinfeld," which earned him a total of 7 Emmy Award nominations and 4 Golden Globe nominations. Other notable screen credits include "Pretty Woman," "Love! Valour! Compassion!," and Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame."

Aimee Carrero previously appeared off-Broadway in Atlantic Theater Company's 'What Rhymes with America' in 2012.
