A View from the Bridge: Tickets now on sale

Tickets are now on sale to the general public for the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's A View From The Bridge, directed by Gregory Mosher, and starring Tony Award-winner Liev Schreiber and Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson, in her Broadway debut.

The drama will open at the Cort Theatre on 24 Jan 2010, following previews from 28 Dec 2009, and will play a limited 14 week engagement through to 4 Apr 2010.

A View From The Bridge: Dockworker Eddie Carbone has made a good life for himself and his wife and niece in 1950's Brooklyn. As a former immigrant himself, Eddie is happy to house and protect his wife's Italian cousins who arrive illegally in pursuit of the 'American Dream'. What Eddie doesn't know is that this act of kindness will have a shattering effect on his whole life, and the lives of those he loves.

Schreiber will play 'Eddie Carbone,' a Brooklyn longshoreman obsessed with his 17-year-old niece 'Catherine,' played by Johansson. When Catherine falls in love with a newly arrived immigrant, Eddie's jealousy erupts in a rage that consumes him, his family, and his world.

Schreiber's won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance as 'Richard Roma' in 'Glengarry Glen Ross' and was nominated for a Tony for his role as 'Barry Champlain' in 'Talk Radio.' Schreiber's many feature credits include 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine,' opposite Hugh Jackman, 'Defiance,' with Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell, 'The Painted Veil,' with Edward Norton and Naomi Watts, 'The Manchurian Candidate,' opposite Meryl Streep and Denzel Washington, 'The Sum of All Fears,' with Ben Affleck, 'Kate & Leopold,' also with Hugh Jackman, Norman Jewison's 'The Hurricane,' also with Denzel Washington.

Scarlett Johansson is making her Broadway debut. A New York native, Johansson made her professional acting debut at the age of eight in the off-Broadway production of Sophistry, with Ethan Hawke, at New York's Playwright's Horizons. Her film credits include 'Lost in Translation' for which she won a BAFTA Award as well as a Golden Globe nomination, and 'Girl with a Pearl Earring,' for which she was nominated for a BAFTA and Golden Globe Award. She has also been nominated for Golden Globe Awards for her work in the films 'A Love Song for Bobby Long' and 'Match Point'
