A Child's Christmas in Wales at the Irish Repertory Theater

The Irish Repertory Theater presents A Child's Christmas in Wales, by Dylan Thomas, adapted by Charlotte Moore, opening at the Irish Repertory Theater on 7 Dec 2008, following previews from 3 Dec and running through to 4 Jan 2009.

A Child's Christmas in Wales is an anecdotal sketch of the festive season, originally written for radio. It is Christmas remembered as a fairy talke, a series of descriptive paggages, in which Dylan creates the nostalgic magic of a childhood Christmas when everything was brighter and better. The show includes traditional selections and original songs (many in close harmony) .

Directed by Charlotte Moore, A Child's Christmas in Wales features Victoria Mallory, Edwin Cahill, Kerry Conte, Jon Fletcher and Ashley Robinson.

Dylan Thomas (Author) was born in Swansea, a seacoast town in southern Wales, on 27 Oct 1914. After dropping out of school at sixteen, he worked as a junior reporter on the South Wales Evening Post. In November 1934, Thomas moved to London and in December of that year published his first book of poetry. Thomas also conducted a series of reading tours of the United States. During his fourth American lecture tour, and a few days after his thirty-ninth birthday, he collapsed in his New York hotel. Dylan Thomas died on 9 Nove 1953, at St. Vincent's Hospital. His body was sent back to Wales, where his grave is marked by a simple wooden cross.
