59th Outer Critics Circle: nominations to be announced by Rebecca Luker and Danny Burstein


Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, reports that Broadway stars, and husband and wife team, Rebecca Luker and Danny Burstein will publicly announce the nominees for the 2008-09 season on 20 Apr at the historic Algonquin Hotel.

Outer Critics Circle will post award nominations in 23 categories and are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season.

Rebecca Luker currently stars as 'Winifred Banks' in 'Mary Poppins,' for which she received a Tony Award nomination and an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination in 2007. Luker was last seen on Broadway opposite Antonio Banderas in 'Nine.' Her other award-nominated performances include starring roles in 'The Music Man,' 'The Sound of Music,' 'Show Boat,' and 'The Secret Garden.'

Currently starring in South Pacific, Danny Burstein earned an Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk and Tony Award nomination for his role of 'Luther Billis.' Last seen as 'Aldolpho' in The Drowsy Chaperone (Tony Award Nominee), Burstein�s other recent Broadway credits include: 'A Class Act,' 'Titanic,' and 'Company.'

Celebrating its 59th season of bestowing awards of excellence in the field of theater, the Outer Critics Circle is an association with members affiliated with more than ninety newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations, and theatre publications in America and abroad.

The winners of the following categories will be announced on 11 May 2009 and the annual awards ceremony will be held on 21 May 2009 at Sardi�s Restaurant.
