
Ethan Slater co-wrote and stars as Marcel Marceau in Marcel on the Train at Classic Stage Company from February 5 to March 14, 2026.
Slater is best known for starring as Boq in the two-part Wicked movie musical and for his Tony Award-nominated, Broadway-debut performance as SpongeBob SquarePants in the musical of the same name. He also won the Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and Theatre World Award for his performance in 2018.
Later, he appeared on screen in shows including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He returned to the stage in a special presentation of Camelot at Lincoln Center, in the world-premiere production of Good Night, Oscar in Chicago, and as Lee Harvey Oswald in an Off-Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins. The role earned him a Lucille Lortel Award nomination.
