
Bill Irwin adapted and stars in The Imaginary Invalid on Broadway at the Todd Haimes Theatre in fall 2026.
Irwin is an actor, director, writer, and clown who has worked on over a dozen Broadway shows in various capacities. His Broadway credits include his original works Fool Moon, Largely New York (Tony Award nomination for choreography), and The Regard of Flight alongside famous plays and musicals like Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Tony Award); The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?; Waiting for Godot; The Iceman Cometh; and Bye Bye Birdie. Most recently, he starred as Don in Eureka Day in winter 2024-25.
For his clowning and vaudeville-style work, he contributed to the resurgence of American circus during the 1970s. Additional work includes television roles as Mr. Noodle on Sesame Street's "Elmo's World," Dr. Peter Lindstrom on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and The Dick & Jane Killer on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
