Allison Janney

Allison Janney stars as Silda in Other Desert Cities at the Hudson Theatre on Broadway from September 29, 2026 to January 17, 2027.

For her extensive work across stage and screen, Janney has earned an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and a Golden Globe Award (for I, Tonya), seven Primetime Emmy Awards (for The West Wing, Masters of Sex, and Mom), and two Tony Award nominations (for A View from the Bridge and 9 to 5).

On stage, Janney made her Broadway debut in a 1996 revival of the play Present Laughter and has gone on to star in four more Broadway shows, earning two Drama Desk Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, the Clarence Derwent Award, the Theatre World Award, and four nominations for the Drama League Award in addition to her Tony nominations throughout her stage career.

On screen, Janney's additional best-known credits include the films American Beauty and The Help, for which she and her co-stars collectively won the Screen Actors Guild Awards and Critics' Choice Movie Awards for Best Ensemble. She earned nods for the same awards for The Hours, Hairspray, Juno, and Bombshell.
