Women On the Verge reschedules first preview


Lincoln Center Theater has announced, in order to give the creative team additional technical stage time, that it has rescheduled the first performance of the new musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.

Previews, originally scheduled to begin on 2 Oct 2010, will now begin on 5 Oct at the Belasco Theatre. Opening night for the musical will remain, as originally announced, Thursday, November 4 at 6:45pm. The musical will play a limited engagement through to 23 Jan 2011. The show reopen's the newly restored Belasco Theatre.

Ticket holders for the Saturday evening performance on 2 Oct 2010 and Sunday matinee performance on 3 Oct 2010 can either exchange their tickets for a future performance or get a refund at point of purchase.

The new Broadway musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is based on the film by Pedro Almodóvar, with a book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek, direction by Bartlett Sher and produced by Lincoln Center Theater.

Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is based on the 1988 Spanish comedy of the same name - Pepa's lover leaves her and she wants to know why. She seeks out his wife and son, but they have no answers. Meanwhile Pepa's girlfriend believes the police want to question Pepa because of her former lover's criminal activities. They decide to engage a lawyer, who unknown to them is the lover's new lover...

The show will star de'Adre Aziza, Laura Benanti, Danny Burstein, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Justin Guarini, Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Beth Peil and Sherie Rene Scott.

The creative team features choreography by Christopher Gattelli, set design by Michael Yeargan, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Brian MacDevitt and sound by Scott Lehrer.
