Wicked: Kate Reinders to play Glinda

Kate Reinders is to play the role of Glinda in the Broadway musical Wicked from the 30 May 2006. Ms Reinders will assume the role from Megan Hilty who currently plays Glinda.

Kate Reinders starred as Glinda when the Wicked production of Chicago opened at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts in July 2005, for which she was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award.

Ms Reinders previous Broadway credits include: Caroline in Good Vibrations and June in Gypsy, as well as appearing in 'Into the Woods' and 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.'

Wicked also currently features Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), David Garrison (The Wizard), Carol Kane (Madame Morrible), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), Sean McCourt (Doctor Dillamond, Witch�s Father) and Robb Sapp (Boq).

The musical opened at the Gershwin Theatre on the 3 Oct 2003 and is currently booking to the 25 Feb 2007.

Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

Wicked tells ths story of how two school roommates from Oz , Elphaba who grows up to become the Wicked Witch of the West, and of her school roommate Glinda, who grows up to become the Good Witch

The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, scene design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound by Tony Meola.
