The Select extends its run by two weeks



Elevator Repair Service (ERS) production of The Select (The Sun Also Rises), created by ERS and based on Ernest Hemingway's novel, 'The Sun Also Rises,' extends its run by two weeks and will now perform through to 23 Oct 2011.

The Select (The Sun Also Rises) opened at New York Theatre Workshop on 11 Sep 2011, following previews from 19 Aug 2011, and was originally scheduled to close on 9 Oct 2011.

Th play opened to mixed reviews: Weary and slightly demented (newyorktheatreguide); Exciting theatricalization of a great American work (Back Stage); Anesthetized listlessness (NY Daily News).

A fresh take on Ernest Hemingway's tale of young ex-patriots living in Europe after World War I as journalist Jake Barnes, his former lover Lady Brett Ashley, and the writer Robert Cohn cope with post-war realities and enter the 'age of anxiety.'

Dirrected by John Collins, The Select (The Sun Also Rises) features Frank Boyd, Mike Iveson, Vin Knight, Kate Scelsa, Kaneza Schaal, Pete SimpsonSusie Sokol, Lucy Taylor, Matt Tierney and Ben Williams.

The design team includes David Zinn (set & costume design), Mark Barton (lighting) and Matt Tierney and Ben Williams (sound).

The Select (The Sun Also Rises) is a co-production of Elevator Repair Service and New York Theatre Workshop.

Elevator Repair Service received critical acclaim for their presentation of 'GATZ,' based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, at the Public Theatre in 2012, and their interpretation of 'The Sound and the Fury' was critically acclaimed when it debuted at NYTW in 2008.
