Somewhere in Time: Davenport announces creative team for Broadway bound musical

Producer Ken Davenport has announced that Leslie Arden will write the score for the new musical, Somewhere in Time, based on the novel 'Bid Time Return' by Richard Matheson and the Universal film adaptation: 'Somewhere in Time,' which starred Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.

Matheson and Davenport will collaborate on adapting the story for the musical, and Stafford Arima, currently represented by Altar Boyz at New World Stages, will direct.

Somewhere in Time is the story of Richard Collier, a young man who is drawn to a beautiful woman in the past, whom he only knows through meeting her olderself in the present. Falling in love with a picture of the young woman, he makes the ultimate sacrifice to find happiness with her in the past.

Many of Richard Matheson's books have been turned into movies: I Am Legend; I Am Omega; The Shrinking Man (new production to be released next year); Duel; Hell House; Stir of Echoes; but this will be the first time his work has been adapted for a stage musical.

Matheson was already working on a musical adaptation of his novel, when he was approached by producer Ken Davenport for the rights to the story.

Davenport produced the recent Broadway productions of 'Blithe Spirit' and 'Speed-the-Plow', and the Off-Broadway shows 'Altar Boyz,' 'My First Time,' and 'The Awesome 80s Prom,' and a recent Tony Award nominee for Will Ferrells 'Youre Welcome America,'

The musical, which is setting its eyes on Broadway, has announced no dates.
