Suddenly, Skylar! On May 17, Skylar Astin stepped into the role of Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theatre. The show has been running off Broadway there since 2019, and the Pitch Perfect star is the latest celebrity to lead the show, following actors like Conrad Ricamora, Jeremy Jordan, and Jonathan Groff.
The Little Shop of Horrors musical sees Seymour, an awkward flower shop worker, discover a bloodthirsty talking plant that brings booming business to the shop. The plant promises Seymour fame, fortune, and the girl of his dreams — his coworker Audrey — if Seymour steps up to bring it human flesh to eat. Astin stars alongside Tammy Blanchard as Audrey, Stuart Zagnit as Mushnik, and Andrew Call (who is standing in for Christian Borle through May 29) as Orin Scrivello, D.D.S.
