Having just finished their acclaimed run at London's National Theatre this past Saturday, January 26, the principal London cast will now reprise their respective roles for the previously announced Broadway premiere of singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell's celebrated folk opera Hadestown, it has been announced.

The principal cast includes Reeve Carney (as Orpheus), 2-time Tony Award nominee André De Shields (as Hermes), Amber Gray (as Persephone), Tony Award nominee Eva Noblezada (as Eurydice), and Patrick Page (as Hades).

Tony-nominated director Rachel Chavkin, who also originally co-developed the project, commented: "I'm delighted to be continuing the journey with these artists, some of whom have been with the piece since the beginning. They bring a wild combination of experience, singular musicianship, and a shared joy in mining Anaïs' poetry and politics."

The Broadway production will begin previews at the Walter Kerr Theatre on March 22, 2019, ahead of an official opening on April 17.

Hadestown staged its world premiere at New York Theatre Workshop in May 2016 (check out our 5* review â€‹from the NYTW world premiere) and went on to receive its Canadian premiere at Edmonton's Citadel Theatre in November 2017. The London production premiered in November 2018.

Synopsis: "Hadestown follows songwriter Orpheus and his mythical quest to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice. Celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell's mesmerizing melodies and poetic imagination pit nature against industry, faith against doubt, and love against fear in this genre-defying new work that blends modern American folk music with vintage New Orleans jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale."

The creative team behind Hadestown features choreography by David Neumann, music direction & vocal arrangements by Liam Robinson, arrangements & orchestrations by Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose, scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Bradley King, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and dramaturgy by Ken Cerniglia.

Hadestown is produced on Broadway by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, and Tom Kirdahy.

Hadestown Tickets are available now for performances from March 22 through to September 1, 2019.
