It was a real showstopper on Saturday, July 15, 2019 on Broadway, as a massive power outage hit the theater district area of Manhattan shortly before the evening Broadway performances were scheduled to begin. Without electricity, many of the Broadway productions and a number of Off-Broadway shows in the area, such as Jersey Boys and Rock of Ages at New World Stages, were all forced to cancel. Even Jennifer Lopez's sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden had to be called off, leaving fans in dismay. But the resilience of the New York City spirit shone through as a number of Broadway performers from shows such as Come From Away and the 2019 Tony Award-winning "Best Musical" Hadestown took to the streets to entertain the crowds with impromptu performances outside their respective theatres. The show must go on, as they say...
