Playwrights Horizons has now announced complete casting for its upcoming world premiere of Dance Nation, written by Obie Award winner Clare Barron and directed/choreographed by Obie Award winner Lee Sunday Evans, which is set to begin previews at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater on April 13, 2018, ahead of an official opening on May 8 and a limited engagement through to May 27, 2018.

The cast of Dance Nation includes Purva Bedi (as Connie), Eboni Booth (as Zuzu), Camila Canó-Flaviá (as Sofia), Obie Award winner Ellen Maddow (as Maeve), Christina Rouner (as Vanessa / The Moms), Thomas Jay Ryan (as Dance Teacher Pat), Dina Shihabi (as Amina), Lucy Taylor (as Brittany) and Ikechukwu Ufomadu (as Luke).

Synopsis: "Somewhere in America, an army of pre-teen competitive dancers plots to take over the world. And if their new routine is good enough, they'll claw their way to the top at the Boogie Down Grand Prix in Tampa Bay. But in Clare Barron's raucous pageant of ambition and ferocity, these young dancers have more than choreography on their minds, because every plié and jeté is a step toward finding themselves, and a fight to unleash their power."

The creative team behind Dance Nation features scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting design by Barbara Samuels and sound design by Brandon Wolcott.

The next production at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater will be the world premiere of Lindsey Ferrentino's This Flat Earth, directed by Tony Award winner Rebecca Taichman, which runs from March 16 through to April 29, 2018. The 2017-2018 off-Broadway season will then conclude with Jordan Harrison's comedy Log Cabin, starring 5-time Emmy Award-nominated star of "Modern Family" Jesse Tyler Ferguson who makes his Playwrights Horizons debut in the production that runs from June 1 through to July 15, 2018.
