Producer Daryl Roth will present the New York premiere of new musical Between the Lines, based on the novel by New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult and her daughter Samantha Van Leer, at the Tony Kiser Theater next spring.

Performances are scheduled to begin on April 21, 2020, with an official opening expected in May 2020.

Synopsis: "An outsider in a new town and a new school, Delilah seeks comfort in the pages of her favorite book, where she feels heard and understood. But as the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur in both extraordinary and astonishing ways, Delilah has to confront whether she alone has the power to rewrite her own story. Between the Lines is an empowering and enchanting new musical for anyone who has ever sought to find their place in the world."

Between the Lines features a book by Timothy Allen McDonald, with music & lyrics by Elyssa Samsel & Kate Anderson, and the Off-Broadway production will be directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun.

The creative team also features choreography by Lortel & Drama Desk Award nominee Lorin Latarro, with additional creative team information, alongside casting and an opening date, to be announced in the coming months.

The world premiere of the new musical was staged at Kansas City Rep in the fall of 2017 and in January 2018, it was presented as a concert version at the 92Y in Manhattan.

Although Between the Lines' Off-Broadway premiere is being staged at the Tony Kiser Theater, it is not a Second Stage Theater production.
