My Name is Lucy Barton, starring Laura Linney, begins performances on Broadway

Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of My Name is Lucy Barton is set for an official opening on January 15, 2020.

Laura Linney returns to the Great White Way tonight! The four-time Tony Award nominee will reprise her UK stage debut performance in the titular role of My Name is Lucy Barton at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre for a limited engagement through February 29, 2020, officially opening on January 15.

Synopsis: "Laura Linney returns to Broadway in a haunting new solo play adapted by Rona Munro from the bestselling novel by Pulitzer Prize winner Elizabeth Strout. Linney plays Lucy Barton, a woman who wakes after an operation to find - much to her surprise - her mother at the foot of her bed. They haven't seen each other in years. During their days-long visit, Lucy tries to understand her past, works to come to terms with her family, and begins to find herself as a writer."

The London Theatre Company production, directed by five-time Olivier Award winner Richard Eyre, is presented by Manhattan Theatre Club as part of its 2019-2020 Broadway season.

The creative team also features scenic & costume design by Bob Crowley, lighting design by Peter Mumford, sound design by John Leonard, and projection design by Luke Halls.

A four-time Emmy Award winner, two-time Golden Globe winner, three-time Oscar nominee and four-time Tony Award nominee, Laura Linney previously starred in My Name is Lucy Barton at London's Bridge Theatre in the summer of 2018, making her UK stage debut in a sold-out, critically acclaimed limited run and returning for an encore engagement in the winter of 2019. She last appeared on Broadway for Manhattan Theatre Club in Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes in spring 2017, alternating the roles of Regina Giddens and Birdie Hubbard with co-star Cynthia Nixon at each performance and picking up her fourth Tony Award nomination. She had previously earned Tony nominations for her performances in Time Stands Still in 2010, Sight Unseen in 2005, and The Crucible in 2002. Linney's other Broadway credits include Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Uncle Vanya, Honour, HolidayHedda GablerThe Seagull, and Six Degrees of Separation. On screen, she received Oscar nominations for "The Savages" in 2008, for "Kinsey" in 2005, and for "You Can Count on Me" in 2001. Other notable screen credits include "Nocturnal Animals," "Sully: Miracle on the Hudson," "The Truman Show," "Mystic River," "Primal Fear," "The Exorcism of Emily Rose," "Mr. Holmes," "The Big C," "John Adams," "The Squid and the Whale," "Frasier," "Congo," and "Love Actually."

My Name is Lucy Barton is produced on Broadway in association with Penguin Random House Audio.
