Spectacular, spectacular! Moulin Rouge! The Musical will return to Broadway this Fall. The Tony-nominated musical will reopen at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on September 24, featuring members of the original cast. Find out more information about Moulin Rouge! Broadway tickets here.

Based on the Baz Luhrrman film of the same name, Moulin Rouge! follows a young bohemian writer named Christian who falls in love with Satine, a dancer with a mysterious secret at the famed titular club. The musical opened on Broadway in 2019, and it was the first show to close due to Covid19, as many of the cast members became infected with the virus, including principal cast members Tam Mutu, Aaron Tveit, and Danny Burstein. The news of its reopening comes in a week when many Broadway shows have announced their return, after Governor Andrew Cuomo declared that Broadway shows can open on Sept. 14.

The Broadway return will feature original cast members Aaron Tveit, Danny Burstein, Sahr Ngaujah, Tam Mutu, Ricky Rojas, and Robyn Hurder. Karen Olivo, who played Satine before theatres shut down, has announced that she will not be returning with the production. A replacement has not been announced yet.

Directed by Alex Timbers, Moulin Rouge! features a book by John Logan and a score of pop hits from the film as well as the broader catalogue, including songs by Katy Perry, The Police, P!nk, Lady Gaga and more with arrangements by Justin Levine. The show is nominated for 14 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is at the Al Hirshfeld Theatre from Sept. 24
