The original off-Broadway cast will reprise their performances in a virtual adaptation of Eleanor Burgess' The Niceties. Last seen in 2018, The Niceties will now run online from May 27 - June 13.

Set at an undisclosed Ivy League university, Zoe is an ambitious black student who is submitting her American Revolution paper to her white professor. When professor Janine Banes claims they're aren't enough primary sources, they argue about who tells the story of the United States.

The Niceties ran at New York City Center in 2018. Lisa Banes and Jordan Boatman will reprise their performances as Janine Banes and Zoe respectively. Burgess' script has been adapted for the online production.

In a review for New York Theatre Guide, Donna Herman said: "The Niceties crackles and sparks with friction. Burgess' characters are drawn with precision and her dialogue is expertly crafted to keep both the tension and the attention high."

The Niceties is streaming from May 27 - June 13. More information can be found here.
