The nominees for the 78th Golden Globe Awards have been announced on February 3, with a list of Broadway stars recognised. Musicals and plays first seen on Broadway are honored in the full list of nominations, ahead of the ceremony on February 28.

Viola Davis and the late Chadwick Boseman have been nominated for their performances in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. The August Wilson play was adapted for screen, released on Netflix in December 2020. Although The Prom didn't win any Tony Awards, its film adaptation has been nominated for two Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy.

Hamilton could continue its award-winning domination streak, as the filmed version has been nominated in two categories, with Lin-Manuel Miranda earning a solo nod for his performance as the title Founding Father.

Away from theatre related productions, there's plenty of Broadway stars nominated too, including Glenn Close, Leslie Odom Jr., Sarah Paulson and Cate Blanchett.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on February 28.
