All rise! On January 5, Academy Award-nominated actor Greg Kinnear played his first performance as Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway. He followed original cast member Jeff Daniels in the role, who received a Tony Award nomination for his performance.

Kinnear is best known for his roles in films like As Good as It Gets (bringing him his Oscar nomination), You've Got Mail, and Little Miss Sunshine, and TV series like The Kennedys and ConfirmationMockingbird marks not only Kinnear's Broadway debut, but his professional stage acting debut.

Also playing her first performance on Wednesday was Baize Buzan, who assumed the role of Scout Finch from Tony winner Celia Keenan-Bolger.

To Kill a Mockingbird, Aaron Sorkin's stage adaptation of Harper Lee's landmark 1960 novel about racism and the loss of innocence in 1930s Alabama, has been running to acclaim at Broadway's Shubert Theatre since November 2018. The New York Theatre Guide review reads, "Sorkin and his director Bartlett Sher stage it primarily as a scorching courtroom drama, folding it seamlessly with scenes from [Atticus] Finch's home life as his two worlds collide."
