Lincoln Center Theater has announced complete casting for its previously announced world premiere LCT3 production of Marys Seacole, written by Jackie Sibblies Drury and directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, which is set to begin previews at the Claire Tow Theater on February 9, 2019, ahead of an official opening on February 25 and a limited engagement through to March 24, 2019.
Joining previously Obie Award winner Quincy Tyler Bernstine (as Mary), alongside Karen Kandel and Lucy Taylor will be Gabby Beans, Marceline Hugot, and Ismenia Mendes.
Synopsis: "In Marys Seacole, Mary is an ambitious Jamaican woman determined to live a grand life; her adventures take her across oceans and eras, from a battlefield of the Crimean War to a contemporary nursing home, and many times and places in between. Marys Seacole is an exploration of what it means to be a woman who is paid to care."
The creative team behind Marys Seacole features scenic design by Mariana Sanchez, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Jiyoun Chang, and sound design by Palmer Hefferan.
Quincy Tyler Bernstine previously appeared for Lincoln Center Theater in In the Next Room or the Vibrator Play, making her Broadway debut as Elizabeth in October 2009. Off-Broadway she won an Obie Award that same year for her performance in Manhattan Theatre Club's Ruined. She has since earned Lucille Lortel Award nominations for her roles in the Public Theater's production of Neva, Playwrights Horizons' production of Grand Concourse, Classic Stage Company's revival of As You Like It, and Vineyard Theatre's production of The Amateurs. She was last seen on the New York stage earlier this year in the Signature Theatre revival of Our Lady of 121st Street.
