The majority of the celebrated Off-Broadway cast of Jeremy O. Harris' acclaimed drama Slave Play will be reprising their roles on the Great White Way this fall, as complete casting has now been confirmed.

The Broadway cast includes Ato Blankson-Wood (as Gary), James Cusati-Moyer (as Dustin), Sullivan Jones (as Phillip), Chalia La Tour (as Teá), Irene Sofia Lucio (as Patricia), Annie McNamara (as Alana), and Paul Alexander Nolan (as Jim), who are all reprising their respective roles from the New York Theatre Workshop run, alongside new addition to the cast, Joaquina Kalukango (as Kaneisha).

Once again under the direction of Robert O'Hara, the Broadway production is scheduled to begin previews at the Golden Theatre on September 10, 2019, ahead of an official opening on October 6 and a limited 17-week engagement through January 5, 2020.

Synopsis: "The Old South lives on at the MacGregor Plantation — in the breeze, in the cotton fields...and in the crack of the whip. It's an antebellum fever-dream, where fear and desire entwine in the looming shadow of the Master's House. Jim trembles as Kaneisha handles melons in the cottage, Alana perspires in time with the plucking of Phillip's fiddle in the boudoir, while Dustin cowers at the heel of Gary's big, black boot in the barn. Nothing is as it seems, and yet everything is as it seems."

Due to its usage of nudity, sexual content, sexual violence, and racially violent language, the production is recommended for ages 17+.

Slave Play was previously staged at New York Theatre Workshop from November 19, 2018 through January 13, 2019, and received a 2019 Lucille Lortel Award nomination for "Outstanding Play." Read our rave review here.

The creative team for the Broadway transfer features scenic design by Tony Award winner Clint Ramos, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Jiyoun Chang, sound design & original music by Lindsay Jones, and movement by Byron Easley. In addition, Amauta Marston-Firmino serves as dramaturg, Claire Warden serves as intimacy & fight director, and Doug Nevin serves as production counsel.

Slave Play is produced on Broadway by Greg Nobile and Jana Shea of Seaview Productions, Troy Carter, Level Forward, and Nine Stories (founded by Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker).
