Dove Cameron will star in The New Group's world premiere of Clueless, The Musical

Clueless, The Musical begins performances at the Pershing Square Signature Center on November 20, 2018.

The New Group has now announced complete casting for the eagerly anticipated world premiere of Clueless, The Musical, which is scheduled to begin previews at the Pershing Square Signature Center's Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre on November 20, 2018, ahead of an official opening on December 11 and a limited engagement through to January 12, 2019.

Dove Cameron will lead the cast as Cher (the role made famous by Alicia Silverstone in the 1995 movie). She is perhaps best known for her Emmy Award-winning dual role as Liv Rooney and Maddie Rooney on Disney's "Liv and Maddie," as well as her screen appearances as Mal on Disney's "Descendants" franchise and as Ruby on Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." She also starred as Amber von Tussle in NBC's "Hairspray Live!" in 2016.    

The rest of the cast includes (in alphabetical order) Ephie Aardema (as Tai), Lori Alan (as Miss Geist / Ms. Stoeger), Sara Andreas (as Heather), Gilbert L. Bailey II (as Murray), Will Connolly (as Travis), Danielle Marie Gonzalez (as Lucy), Tessa Grady (as Amber), Chris Hoch (as Mel / Mr. Hall / DMV Instructor), L'ogan J'ones (as Max), Darius Jordan Lee (as Sean), Justin Mortelliti (as Christian), Dave Thomas Brown (as Josh) and Zurin Villanueva (as Dionne), with Tiffany Engen, Katie Goffman, Talya Groves, Jeff Kuhr, and Brett Thiele.

Clueless, The Musical is written by Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original 1995 movie. The world premiere off-Broadway production is directed by Tony Award nominee Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by two-time Tony Award nominee Kelly Devine.

Synopsis: "Amy Heckerling takes us back to 90s Beverly Hills with this musical version of her beloved film Clueless, a modern spin on Jane Austen's Emma​. With her singular voice, she gives us a score that reimagines 90s hits into ingenious parodies and yearning monologues for her lovesick characters. Clueless, The Musical ​is a fresh take on the story of Cher, a girl so psychotically optimistic she can't see that her bungling attempts at playing Cupid disguise her own fashion-plated isolation."

The creative team features music direction by Matthew Smedal, music supervision, arrangements & orchestrations by Ethan Popp, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Amy Clark, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by Gareth Owen, and projection design by Darrel Maloney.
