Dancing in the Dark at Theater For The New City

Theater for trhe New City presents Dancing in the Dark, by Robert Kornfeld, opening at the Theater For The New City's Johnson Theater on 15 Nov 2008, following previews from 13 Nov and running through to 30 Nov 2008.

Dancing in the Dark: A husband's search for his birth parents tests his marriage. The protagonist, Jason, is a tormented New Orleans intellectual--a professor of linguistics, whose quest is not that different from many Americans. His wife is an attorney whose biological clock is ticking strongly. The couple are dealing seriously with the issue of finally having children, but Jason is fearful of 'unseen' genetic problems. He carries on a relentless search for his birth mother behind his wife's somewhat disapproving back. His stated obsession with genetics may be his bottom-line motive, or it may be a smoke screen for deeper, more Freudian concerns.

Directed by Tom Thornton, Dancing in the Dark features Michael Gnat, Susan Izatt, Kristen Willes, Elaine Barrow and Tom Thornton.

The creative team includes Mark Marcante (sets), Susan Gittens (costumes), Alexander Bartenieff (lighting) and Richard Reta (sound).
