Broadway On Demand have created a new platform to stream live theatre, it was announced yesterday. Using ‘Showshare’, amateur and professional productions from across the United States will be able to share their shows with audiences further afield.

President and CEO of ShowShare Sean Cercone said: “This new initiative from Broadway on Demand expands our mission and brings even more theater directly to eager audiences with high quality streams... school productions and theatre professionals in communities across the country will now be able to take part in the national theatrical landscape like never before.”

Producers will be able to contract licensing partners, in order to add ShowShare to their streaming rights and agreement. Once on ShowShare, productions will be on the site, available to be watched by over 300,000 subscribers. Currently, over 500 productions are scheduled on ShowShare.

Launched earlier this year, Broadway on Demand is a streaming platform devoted to theater and the performing arts. Users are able to watch shows, concerts and original content for a set fee per month. In September, it was announced the service will also offer professional masterclasses.
