It's (almost) showtime! Beetlejuice will return to Broadway in April 2022 at a new venue. The musical stopped performances at the Winter Garden Theatre in March 2020, due to the theatrical shutdown, ahead of a planned closing in June. Now, the musical, based on the beloved Tim Burton film, will reopen at the Marriott Marquis Theatre, with performances starting on April 8, 2022.

“We are overjoyed to be able to bring ‘The Ghost with The Most’ back to Broadway and are looking forward to seeing all our Beetlejuice fans this spring at the Marriott Marquis," said producers Mark Kaufman (Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures) and Kevin McCormick (Langley Park Productions) said in a statement. "We sincerely thank the Beetlejuice fans; it is because of their support that we will be able to blow the roof off the Marquis Theatre three-times over with fun and laughter, laughter and laughter!”

Beetlejuice features music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect, with a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King. Directed by Alex Timbers and choreographed by Connor Gallagher, the show also features costume design by William Ivey Long, scenic design by David Korins, and music supervision, orchestrations, and incidental music by Kris Kukul.

Beetlejuice opened on Broadway in April 2019, starring Alex Brightman as the titular ghost with Sophia Ann Caruso as the tortured teen Lydia, with Rob McClure, Kerry Butler, and Leslie Kritzer. Although the show had a rocky start, the musical became a viral sensation thanks to fan-made music videos on TikTok and swiftly became one of the top-grossing shows on Broadway. However, the show was set to close as the Hugh Jackman-led revival of The Music Man planned to open at the Winter Garden in the fall 2020. Casting for the return engagement of Beetlejuice will be announced at a later date.

The musical is based on the 1988 film starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder about a "strange and unusual" girl Lydia who meets a recently deceased couple when she and her father move into a new home. When she encounters the demonic Beetlejuice, all havoc breaks lose. The show was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
