Additional casting announced for 'A Man of No Importance' off Broadway

UPDATE: Additional cast members have been named. Two-time Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Mare Winningham joins the A Man of No Importance cast as Lily Byrne, William Youmans as Baldy O'Shea, and Shereen Ahmed as Adele Rice.

The Classic Stage Company production of A Man of No Importance has set additional casting, joining the previously announced Jim Parsons in the lead role of Alfie Byrne. The show will run from October 11 to December 4, with an opening night of October 30.

Newly announced cast members include Alma Cuervo, Kara Mikula, Mary Beth Peil (a two-time Tony Award nominee for Anastasia and The King and I), Thom Sesma, A.J. Shively (a 2022 Tony nominee for Paradise Square), Nathaniel Stampley, Jessica Tyler Wright, and Joel Waggoner.

A Man of No Importance follows bus driver Alfie Byrne and his amateur theatre group as they try to put on a production of Oscar Wilde's Salome. But in 1960s Dublin, the group faces pushback from church authorities, and they must hold fast to their friendship as they confront bigotry and present their tale of love.

The show features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. John Doyle directs.
