5 new Wicked principal cast members from 16 Dec 2014
Caroline Bowman will don the green face paint as 'Elphaba,' assuming the role from Christine Dwyer. She has appeared in the Broadway production of 'Kinky Boots' and as Eva in the National Tour of 'Evita.'
Kara Lindsay, who stars as Glinda on the National Tour, will take over the role from Jenni Barber. She has also appeared on Broadway as Katherine in Disney's 'Newsies.'
Matt Shingledecker, who has appeared on Broadway in 'West Side Story,' as well as 'Spring Awakening,' assumes the role of 'Fiyero' from Justin Guarini.
Kathy Fitgerald returns to the role of Madam Morrible. She has previously played the Headmistress on Broadway and on National Tour. Her other Broadway credits include the role of Roz in '9 to 5,' 'The Producers,' and 'Swinging on a Star.' She assumes the role from Mary Testa.
Finally, two-time Tony nominee Robin De Jesús takes over the role of Boq from Michael Wartella. He earned Tony nominations for his performances as Sonny in 'In The Heights' in 2008 and Jacob in 'La Cage aux Folles' in 2010, and also appeared on Broadway in 'Rent.'
Christine Dwyer, Jenni Barber, Justin Guarini, Mary Testa and Michael Wartella will all play their final performances on 14 December 2014.
Other cast members of Wicked include Kelli Barrett as Nessarose, Tom McGowan as The Wizard, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond.
The Broadway musical Wicked opened at the Gershwin Theatre on 30 October 2003, following previews from 8 October, and is currently selling tickets through to 11 July 2015.
Synopsis: "Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch."
Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.
The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, scene design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound by Tony Meola.
