Tony Yazbeck was set to star in Flying Over Sunset at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on Broadway from March 12, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production has now been postponed.

Tony Yazbeck was born in 1979 in Riverside, California. He is a Broadway favorite, a talented dancer and a Tony-nominated actor.

Yazbeck was raised in Pennsylvania and Florida, before finally moving to New York, and he attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Pittsburgh’s Point Park University.

He made his Broadway debut at the age of eleven, playing a newsboy in the 1989 revival of Gypsy starring Tyne Daly. He returned to Broadway as part of the ensemble of the 2002 revival of Oklahoma! and would appear regularly on the Great White Way over the next decade. His Broadway credits include Never Gonna Dance (2003-4), the role of Al in A Chorus Line (2006-7), the role of Tulsa in Gypsy opposite Patti LuPone (2008-9), and the role of Phil Davis in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (2009-10). In 2014, he was cast as Gabey in a Broadway revival of On the Town which ultimately led to his first Tony Award nomination in the category of ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical’ in 2015 and cemented his status as a Broadway leading man. He followed this up with two separate engagements as the leading role of J.M. Barrie in the Broadway premiere of Finding Neverland in 2016 and an acclaimed turn in Prince of Broadway for the Manhattan Theatre Club in 2017, which resulted in his first Drama Desk Award nomination the following year for ‘Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical.’

Yazbeck’s Off-Broadway credits include Fanny Hill for York Theatre Company in 2006, The Beast in the Jungle for Vineyard Theatre in 2018, and The Cradle Will Rock for Classic Stage Company in 2019. He has also starred in New York City Center’s Encores! productions of On the Town (2007) and Little Me (2014), and starred as Zach in City Center’s 2018 production of A Chorus Line. National Tour credits include Annie Get Your Gun (2000), Thoroughly Modern Millie (2003), and Doctor Dolittle (2005), and regional credits also include Animal Crackers in Chicago (2009), Sycamore Trees in Washington, D.C. (2010), and the 2011 Goodspeed production of My One and Only. He also performed in Kiss Me, Kate at London’s Royal Albert Hall in 2014.

On screen, Yazbeck has appeared in NBC’s Broadway-centric musical series “Smash” in 2012 and in Showtime’s hit drama “Billions” in 2017.

Yazbeck was scheduled to return to the New York stage to star as Cary Grant in Lincoln Center Theater’s Broadway premiere of new musical Flying Over Sunset at the Vivian Beaumont Theater from March 12, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production has now been postponed.
