Cody Robert Simpson was born on January 11, 1997 on the Australian Gold Coast. He is an actor and musician who appeared on Australian television for the first time in 2009, later releasing his debut single in 2010. Moving to Los Angeles soon after, he opened the Big Time Summer Tour for Big Time Rush in 2012, as well as the Believe Tour for Justin Bieber in 2013.
Simpson has released three albums throughout his solo singing career: Paradise in 2012, Surfers Paradise in 2013 and Free in 2015. His single Pretty Brown Eyes charted in the top ten of the Billboard 100. He formed a band called Cody Simpson and the Tide in 2017 and released one EP, Wave One, that year, before the band broke up in 2019.
In 2014, he took part in Season 18 of the hit reality show Dancing With the Stars, partnering with Witney Carson. He competed through week five, when he was eliminated and finished in ninth place. In 2019, he competed on the inaugural season of The Masked Singer Australia and won.
His performing credits include appearances on Instant Mom on Nickelodeon, Cougar Town for ABC and TBS, and the film Smiley Face Killers.
Making his first stage appearance, Simpson assumed the role of Dmitry in the Broadway production of Anastasia at the Broadhurst Theatre on November 29, 2018 and remained with the production until its final performance on March 31, 2019.
