Through a Glass Darkly at NYTW from 13 May

Chris Sarandon, Jason Butler Harner and Ben Rosenfield will join Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Carey Mulligan in the U.S. premiere of Through a Glass Darkly, based on the Academy Award winning Ingmar Bergman film adapted for the stage by Jenny Worton.

Directed by five time Tony Award nominee David Leveaux, Through a Glass Darkly will open at New York Theatre Workshop on 6 Jun 2011, following previews from 13 May and play a limited engagement through to 3 Jul 2011.

Karin (Mulligan) is the central figure in the lives of her family, not least because her own tenuous grip on reality keeps everyone in constant motion around her. On an annual vacation to a beautiful remote island, tensions flare as her husband (Harner), father (Sarandon) and brother (Rosenfield) struggle over the best way to help her. When a legacy of denial and repression boils over, threatening the future of the entire family, Karin decides that she must take command of her own destiny.

Through a Glass Darkly is an adaptation of the Academy Award winning film by legendary Swedish director and screenwriter Ingmar Bergman.

The creative team for Through a Glass Darkly features scenic design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Jess Goldstein, lighting design by David Weiner and original music and sound design by David Van Tieghem.

The stage adaptation of Through a Glass Darkly made its world premiere at the Almeida Theatre in London on 16 Jun 2011.
