Following the news that Thoughts of a Colored Man would receive its Broadway premiere, a Broadway venue has been confirmed. The production will open at the Golden Theatre as part of the 2021-2022 season, with performance dates to be announced.

Thoughts of a Colored Man is the first new show to take residence on Broadway since theatres were shut on March 12.

Written by Keenan Scott II, Thoughts of a Colored Man follows seven men in Brooklyn, who come together to share their individual stories, in the hopes of finding connections between one another. Combining slam poetry, music and spoken word, the play aims to amplify new voices in Broadway theater, that press material states is "vulnerable and vibrant, raw and alive."

Thoughts of a Colored Man enjoyed its world premiere at Syracuse Stage, with a subsequent run later that year at Baltimore Center Stage. The upcoming Broadway transfer will mark Keenan Scott II's Broadway writing debut, with a Broadway directorial debut for Steve H. Broadnax III.

More information on Thoughts of a Colored Man, including casting, a performance schedule and ticket information will be announced in the coming weeks.

The full creative team includes music by Te'La and Brother Kamau, set design by Robert Brill, co-costume design by Toni-Leslie James and Devario D. Simmons, lighting design by Ryan O'Gara, projection design by Sven Ortel, and sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman.

Producers include Brian Moreland, Ron Simons, Diana DiMenna, Samira Wiley, Sheryl Lee Ralph, The Shubert Organization, and The Nederlander Organization.
