The Two-Character Play: Rob Sedgwick and Elize Russell

Rob Sedgwick and Elize (Lisi) Russell will temporarily star in the Off-Broadway premiere of Tennessee Williams' rarely seen The Two-Character Play, directed by Gene David Kirk, playing at New World Stages / Stage 5.

The two actors will perform the roles usually played by Brad Dourif (Felice) and Amanda Plummer (Clare) at performances on 09 and 11 Sep 2013, while Dourif is out of town attending a funeral of a close relative who recently passed away.

Producer Robert Driemeyer said,

We were very saddened by Brad's news and allowing him a short time away from the production to attend the funeral was the right thing to do. The show must go on and we're thrilled to have Rob and Lisi bring their brilliance to the stage and play Felice and Clare during Brad's short absence. Not only are they ideally matched to the roles and one another; they are first-rate pros with theatre in their blood. Rob has an accomplished list of credits in all entertainment mediums (like his sister Kyra Sedgwick). Lisi an accomplished actress in her own right who happens to be the widow of the great filmmaker Ken Russell. We couldn't be more excited to have them on our team and we encourage people to experience their "take" on Williams' brilliant play. Mr. Dourif and Ms. Plummer will resume performances on September 12.
The Off-Broadway premiere production of Tennessee Williams' The Two-Character Play opened at New World Stages / Stage 5 on 19 Jun 2013, following previews from 13 Jun 2013, where it will play its final performance on 29 Sep 2013.

Equal parts Southern Gothic thriller, black comedy and psychological drama, The Two-Character Play, written during a time of great personal strife, is abstractly based on Williams' close yet complicated relationship with his sister, Rose.

Reality and fantasy are interwoven as two actors on tour-brother and sister-find themselves deserted by their troupe. Faced by an audience expecting a performance, they enact The Two-Character Play. As they dip in and out of performance they find it difficult to differentiate themselves from their roles and reality from illusion.

The Two-Character Play is being produced by Robert Driemeyer, Jim A. Landé, and Morgan Sills.

The creative team includes scenic design by Alice Walkling, costumes by Lara DeBruijn, lighting design by Jake Fine, sound design by Phillip Hewitt and fight choreography by Rick Sordelet.

Elize Russell (Clare) began her career in New York in Tennessee Williams' 'This Property is Condemned,' directed by Daniel Irvine of Circle Rep and in Lanford Wilson's 'Home Free.' She has been in 9 films (UK) by Ken Russell including "Boudica Bites Back" and "Composer on a Bicycle: Elgar."

Rob Sedgwick' (Felice) has appeared Off-Broadway in 'Bliss,' 'Finder's Fee' and 'Major Barbara.'
