The Starry Messenger: The New Group announces full cast

The New Group have announce the full cast for their world premiere production of The Starry Messenger written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan, opening at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre on 16 Nov 2009, following previews from 24 Oct and running through to 12 Dec 2009.

J. Smith Cameron, Stephanie Cannon, Kieran Culkin, Jonathan Hadary, Grant Shaud and Missy Yager join the previously announced Matthew Broderick and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

The Starry Messenger follows an astronomy teacher whose midlife crisis is thrown into relief by an unexpected affair that changes everything. It's set in 1995, the last year before the [Hayden] planetarium - one of the great NYC institutions - was torn down.

Lonergan says the work "dates back to an astronomy course at The Hayden Planetarium that Matthew Broderick and I took as high school students growing up in New York City." Lonergan wrote the play for Broderick.

The design team includes Derek McLane (set), Mattie Ullrich (costume), Jason Lyons (lighting) and Shane Rettig (sound).
