‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ to recommence open-ended run at New World Stages in October
The acclaimed production continues its off-Broadway engagement.
The off-Broadway production of The Play That Goes Wrong will resume its run at New World Stages this fall. The Play That Goes Wrong will reopen at New World Stages - Stage 4 from October 15. Find out more about The Play That Goes Wrong tickets in New York here.
Co-written by Mischief Theatre founders Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, The Play That Goes Wrong follows an amateur dramatics troupe as they prepare to open their latest show. Unfortunately, it's not an easy ride, with cast members and props going walkabout.
Following an award-winning opening in London, The Play That Goes Wrong transferred to Broadway's Lyceum Theatre. After 700 performances, the production transferred to New World Stages in 2019, where it's been ever since.
Casting for The Play That Goes Wrong is to be announced. In a review for New York Theatre Guide, the show is "merely an excuse for two hours of well-timed spit takes, killer pratfalls, silly antics by men with serious British accents, pyrotechnics of both the literal and metaphorical variety."
The Play That Goes Wrong is the second production to confirm a reopening at New World Stages in the fall. Jersey Boys will reopen at Stage I from November 15, with other off-Broadway shows opening including Little Shop of Horrors and Nollywood Dreams.
The Play That Goes Wrong is at New World Stages from October 15.
